Cranberry Sauce

I have a confession to make, I really dislike cranberry sauce. When I was growing up my mom would buy the canned cranberry sauce and we continued that tradition until about five years ago.  That is when I discovered the Fresh Market sold cranberry sauce that  was freshly prepared and available during the holiday season.  I bought it for my mom one year and she loved it and because I love my mom I knew I wanted to make cranberry sauce for her.  This is a simple recipe and it can  be prepared a day or two in advance.

Ingredients
12 oz bag Fresh Cranberries
3/4 cup of Orange Juice
1/3 cup of White Sugar
2/3 cup Brown Sugar
2 oz Grand Marnier (optional)
1 Cinnamon Stick
Orange Zest

Directions

Place all ingredients in a sauce pan.

Stirring occasionally, cook on medium-high heat for 15 to 20 minutes or until most of the liquid is gone. Don't worry about the cranberries popping, they're supposed to.

Remove from heat. If you're making ahead of time you can refrigerate with the cinnamon stick, just remember to remove it before you serve. I like to take the sauce out about an hour before serving to bring to room temperature. If preparing the same day, let cool before serving.

I hope you enjoy! Are you trying out any new recipes this Thanksgiving?
