Cookies and Milk Martini

It's Thursday and do you know what that means? It means that it is ladies night and at most establishments ladies get to drink free! WooHoo! Oh wait, I forgot, I'm married and a homebody and not 20something anymore, so ladies night doesn't actually mean anything to me. But in case you want to partake in Thirsty Thursday here is an an easy and delicious cocktail.

I actually came up with with this on Christmas Eve. I was excited earlier in the day when I discovered that Pinnacle vodka was on sale at my local liquor store. I stocked up on my favorites and decided to try out the cookie dough flavor.  So, it was after 11:00 I had cookies baking in the oven, I was wrapping presents and watching my favorite Christmas movie, Die Hard and I decided I had to have a cocktail and Santa might want one too. And Voila, the Cookies and Milk Martini was born.

Some notes before I get to the recipe.
*Use equal parts of all the ingredients if you want to make more than one drink.
*You can also rim the glass with cookie crumbs
* I happened to have milk at home, but you can use half & half or cream, or whatever you use in your coffee.
*If there are any typos it is because I had to drink a martini before writing this entry.

Almond Joy Martini

Did everyone have a happy Thanksgiving? Mine was very hectic but filled with yummy food.  I was so busy working on  Thanksgiving recipes last week I completely missed my blogerversary.  My blog turned 1 on November 17, 2011. I decided to start a blog as an easy way to share my recipes with my family and friends. My early recipes are just short, simple and straight to the point.  The very first recipe I posted was for my Seafood Pasta Salad.  One year later and my blog is followed by people I have never met.  I feel very fortunate and thankful for everyone who reads my stories and recipes.

I thought I would celebrate by having a cocktail.  I first have to confess that I am an impulse buyer.  I have a terrible habit of buying things I don't need just because it looks delicious or cute!  The other day I was at the grocery store shopping for my weekly groceries and I came across Almond Joy coffee creamer and it wound up in my shopping cart. I don't know why, I don't drink coffee, we don't even  own a coffee maker.  So it sat in the refrigerator for a week and every time I opened the refrigerator I would look at it and feel guilty.  I finally decided to make a cocktail.  This is very similar to a White Russian and very yummy!  This recipe makes 1 big girl martini or 2 little girl martinis.

Ingredients
2 oz Godiva Chocolate Liqueur
2 oz Amaretto
2 oz Almond Joy Coffee Creamer
Coconut for garnish

Photobucket

Add coconut to a skillet and warm over medium heat.

Photobucket

Toast until golden brown.

Photobucket

I realized I didn't have a way to garnish the glass with the coconut, so I melted some Hersey kisses and dipped the glass in it.

Photobucket

Dip the glass in the toasted coconut.

Photobucket

Add amaretto, Almonds Joy Coffee Creamer and chocolate liqueur to a a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

Photobucket

Shake and pour into your garnished glass.  Enjoy!

Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini

TGIF! I love Fridays. After a a long stressful week at work I can't wait to pick up some dinner and head home to Michael, put my feet up and relax.  In my younger single days, Friday evening meant one thing, Happy Hour.  I have so many memories of going out after work with co-workers who were more like friends. I'd share some stories, but I pinky swore I would never tell and I'd really hate for all of my hair to fall out. Now that I am older and wiser, going out to Happy Hour isn't in the cards anymore.  But there isn't anything stopping me from having Happy Hour at home.  The best thing about Happy Hour at home? There isn't a need for a designated driver.  This recipe makes one drink.

Ingredients
1 oz Pinnacle Cake Flavored Vodka
2 oz Pineapple Juice
1 Maraschino Cherry
Brown Sugar

Dip rim of martini glass with brown sugar and place cherry in the bottom of the glass.

X-Rated Delight

I'm not a wine or a beer drinker, but I do love my mixed drinks. My usual alcohol of choice is Malibu rum.  I recently discoverd X-Rated Fusion Liqueur. The makers decribe it as a " sensuous blend of ultra-premium French vodka and rich blood oranges, mingling with mangos and passion fruit." It is very delish!  I like to use it in a drink I call X-Rated Delight.  I make it by the pitcher for parties or just for watching Sunday football.  It is very easy to make. Sometimes I double the recipe and use a portion to make ice cubes to use later for a frozen cocktail.

Ingredients
1 can frozen pink lemonade
X-Rated Fusion Liqueur
Water

Photobucket
Pour pink lemonade into pitcher.
Photobucket
Fill the empty can with water, three times and add to pitcher. Then fill the empty can one to two times with the X-rated. If you prefer a less potent cocktail you can only fill once.
Photobucket
Mix well and then serve over ice.

Cheers!
